How to Apply

The first step in applying for the Skilled and Trained Workforce Apprenticeship Program begins with obtaining a sponsorship request from your current signatory contractor/employer and approval from the Director of Training for an application.

IUOE Local 12 signatory contractors/employers must first send a sponsorship request by email to this address: skilled-trained@oett.net.  Upon approval, an application will be provided to the member.

The sponsorship request must contain the applicants name, address, phone number and email, and a current hour printout from the Operating Engineers Trust Funds office for verification of required hours. This can now be done online by going to Work History Report Request - Operating Engineers Trust Funds (oefi.org). The request will then be reviewed by the Director of Training and upon approval or denial of the request, the Operating Engineers Training Trust will send an email with further instructions to the applicant.

The applicant will then have ninety (90) days to complete the application and apprentice program indenture process (see below), or the sponsorship will be rescinded (voided) and the current signatory contractor/employer request for sponsorship will need to be started once again for Skilled and Trained Workforce program participation.

Application Submittal

Submittal includes a completed Apprenticeship application, certificate of completion for Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (see below), and a copy of the applicants current Union Membership card from IUOE Local 12.  The applicant is required to complete an online Sexual Harassment Prevention Training course and provide the completion certificate from the State of California Civil Rights Department (CRD).  Current/past employer Sexual Harassment Prevention Training will not be accepted for this process (no exceptions).
